Purchases are stored in your NOOK Cloud™ and can be read on any NOOK device that is registered to your bn.com account. You can also read eBooks by using the Barnes & Noble NOOK App on iOS and Android devices or on bn.com using NOOK for Web.
When buying eBooks or digital content, you need to be physically located within the U.S. to place your order. U.S. Military personnel can order from anywhere in the world using their military issued email addresses.
You are charged for digital purchases immediately. Pre-ordered eBooks are billed on the title's on-sale date.
To make digital purchases, a default credit or debit card must be set up in your account, excluding purchases of free digital content. If you don't have an account, you'll be asked to create a bn.com account after you click Add to Cart. If you already have an account, but don't have a default credit or debit card, you'll be asked to select a card or enter a new one. Either way, completing your purchase only takes a matter of seconds that first time. And after that, it's almost instantaneous.
We accept American Express, MasterCard, Discover, Visa, Diners Club, JCB, PayPal, and Barnes & Noble Gift Cards and eGift Cards.
Please note: NOOK magazine and newspaper monthly and annual subscriptions cannot be purchased with PayPal or Barnes & Noble Gift Cards and eGift Cards, even if a valid credit card is saved to your NOOK/bn.com account. NOOK magazine and newspaper monthly and annual subscriptions can only be purchased with one of the previously mentioned accepted credit card methods.
To buy an eBook on bn.com
Find the book of your choice by browsing our curated lists and categories or by searching a specific title/author/subject in the Search bar at the top right of the page. Once you find a book you want, go to the product page, make sure the eBook format is selected, and click "Add to Cart".
Your Shopping Cart will appear confirming that the item has been added. Click "View Cart & Checkout" to begin checkout, or close your Cart to search for other titles you want to purchase. You can check out at any time by clicking on the Shopping Cart in the top right corner of the page.
When you check out, sign in to the bn.com account that is registered to your NOOK Device/App. If you purchase eBooks with a different account than what is registered to your NOOK Device/App, the titles will not appear in your Library.
Go through the checkout process and click "Submit Order" when you are ready to complete your purchase. Your order number will appear, and the eBook is now available in the NOOK Library of the account with which you made the purchase.
If you have enabled the Instant Purchase option on your bn.com account, you can also checkout using the "Instant Purchase" link. Since you have a default credit card stored on your bn.com account, clicking on "Instant Purchase" will immediately complete your order. Your new eBook will be waiting for you in your NOOK Library.
Buy eBook as a Gift
You can send eBooks as a gift directly to another person’s bn.com account!
To send an eBook as a gift:
1. Locate the eBook of your choice and open the Product Page. Select Add to Cart and move to the Checkout page.
2. On the line for the eBook you are sending as a gift, click the Make It an eGift button and fill out the form that appears, including the recipient’s name and email address, the date on which the eBook should be delivered electronically, and an optional gift message. Click Save gift details when you are finished.
3. After reviewing and confirming all your order details, click Submit Order.
· You will receive an Order Confirmation email.
· You can view your eGift details in the Order Status section in your bn.com account. The gift recipient's email address is displayed and your Gift Message (if sent) is shown when you click View Gift Message.
4.The recipient receives an email titled You Have Received a Gift email with your name, gift message (if selected), and a link to redeem their eGift. The recipient must have a credit card saved to their bn.com account to access and open the eBook.

Buy Magazines and Newspapers on NOOK
Magazines and Newspapers are available to buy on your NOOK Devices and Apps as either a single issue or as a monthly or annual eSubscription.
To purchase a magazine or newspaper:
On bn.com
- Visit the Product Page of the magazine you want to buy
- Select your preferred option under the title
- Annual Subscription will bill you once a year
- Monthly Subscription will bill you monthly
- Current Issue will only purchase the most recent issue
- Click Add to Cart
When you’re ready, go through the online Checkout process and complete your purchase
On a NOOK Device
- Open the Product Page from the Shop or Bookstore for the magazine you want to buy
- Tap Buy Current Issue or Buy for (Price) (varies by device/app) to purchase the current issue
- Tap Start Free Trial or Try for Free to purchase a subscription (varies by device/app)
- A window will appear for you to select a Monthly or Annual subscription
- Tap Confirm
The purchase will go through and your magazine will begin downloading.

Earning Stamps on Digital Content Purchases
Premium and Rewards Members earn stamps on purchases of eBooks, audiobooks not purchased with a subscription credit, and single-issue magazines/newspapers. Every 10 stamps earned can be redeemed for $5 rewards.
For purchases on bn.com, stamps are earned for every $10 increment spent. Purchases made in the NOOK Shop are aggregated over a 24 hour period from 3:00AM-2:59AM Eastern Time, and stamps are issued for every $10 spent on digital content in that 24 hour period.
B&N Audiobook subscriptions and digital newsstand subscriptions are not eligible to contribute to the total purchase amount considered for stamp issuance.
Using Rewards to Purchase Digital Content
Rewards can only be used to purchase eBooks and individual digital magazines, newspapers, and Audiobooks by adding the items to your cart and checking out on bn.com. NOOK Devices and Apps cannot be used to apply rewards to digital content purchases.
Purchasing NOOK Content for Barnes & Noble NOOK App
The Barnes & Noble NOOK App does not have a Shop feature to purchase content directly through the app.
To purchase new books for the Barnes & Noble NOOK App for both iOS and Android, visit bn.com in your device's web browser (Safari/Chrome or other) or on a desktop/laptop computer. eBooks purchased on bn.com will automatically sync to your NOOK Library.
In addition to books, you can also start free 14-day trials of popular magazines and newspapers, and purchase B&N Audiobooks, all of which are accessible using the Barnes & Noble NOOK App.
You can browse the Bookstore on your NOOK App and, if you find a title you want to buy, add it to your Wish List. Picks added to your Wishlist on NOOK Apps and Devices seamlessly carry over to bn.com for you to purchase later.
If you are using a device purchased outside of the United States, you may be able to configure the Region and Country of the device to access the US App Store, which will allow you to download the NOOK App.
