There are many ways you can customize your reading experience on NOOK. This article shows steps on how to adjust the reading area’s margins, change the font size, font type, page and text color, and enable the publisher suggested settings for a eBook.
First, open one of your downloaded eBooks.
Accessing the Text Menu
1. Quickly tap anywhere in the middle section of your eBook’s page (Tapping the sides will cause the eBook page to change).
2. A Blue Navigation Bar should now appear at the bottom of your screen. Tap “Text.”
Changing the Font Size
1. At the the top of the “Text Menu” you will notice the letter “A” is displayed in sizes ranging from small to large.
2. Tap each letter “A” to adjust the font size.
3. Once you have selected a size you are comfortable with, tap the “Text” menu again, and then tap the middle of your reading area to continue reading.
Changing the Font Type
1. From the “Text”menu, tap the box directly underneath the cascading “A”s you previously used to adjust the font size (the default selection for this box is labeled “Georgia”).
2. Slide your finger up and down to view the menu of available font types. Once you have selected a font type, tap the font to check it.
3. When you are finished, tap the “Text” menu again, and then tap the middle of your reading area to continue reading.
Changing the Page and Text Color
1. From the “Text”menu, tap the box underneath the “Font Type” box to bring up the color options (the default selection for this is labeled “Normal”).
2. You can now view a variety of different page colors; night, normal, sepia, butter, mocha, and gray.
3. Once you have selected your color scheme, tap the “Text” menu again, and then tap the middle of your reading area to continue reading.
Adjusting the Margins
1. Adjusting the Margins for your eBook will shrink or increase the viewing area in which your text appears.
2. From the “Text" menu, tap the page icons displayed directly underneath the box you used to change the eBook’s color scheme.
3. Once you have selected the margin option you prefer, tap the “Text” menu again, and then tap the middle of your reading area to continue reading.
Toggling Publisher Defaults
1. Some publishers may set a preferred color scheme, font type, font size, and margins for certain eBooks.
2. To view a eBook using the publisher’s preferred settings, tap the switch on the “Text” menu labeled “Publisher Defaults.” You can set this setting to “On” or “Off” depending on your preference.
3. Once you have selected the margin option you most prefer tap the “Text” menu again, and then tap the middle of your reading area to continue reading.
