Pre-orders allow you to place an order for an item before it has been released by the supplier, such as a publisher, record label, studio, etc. This includes Books, eBooks, Music, TV/Movies, and many other products offered on BN.com.
The supplier is responsible for determining the release date of the item and has the authority to change the release date. If a release date is changed, that new release date will be reflected on BN.com once Barnes & Noble is notified.
Some pre-ordered eBooks do not appear in your NOOK Library until the title is released. All pre-ordered eBooks are not available for download until the release date. You will receive a "Ready for Download" email once your pre-ordered eBook has been released.
Payment Authorization policy for both Pre-Ordered Physical and Digital items:
When a pre-order item is purchased, the credit/debit card on the order will be authorized for the full amount. Depending on the release date of the item, the authorization may drop off before the item ships. Times may vary when hold is removed based on the credit/debit card issuer.
When the inventory becomes available for the item, another authorization occurs for the full amount to begin processing the order. If you see two authorizations, you weren't billed twice; one is the temporary hold and one is the actual charge.
Please note: Barnes & Noble does not reimburse any bank, credit card, or debit card overdraft charges.
