We hope you’re enjoying the new and improved bn.com! We recently moved bn.com to a new platform, and with that change came some improvements both to the appearance and functionality of the site. Below is some information about our recent updates.
New password process
We no longer use traditional passwords for bn.com accounts. Instead, each time you sign in, we’ll send you a unique 6-digit code via email for you to enter that will act as your password.
If you have a NOOK Device or use the Barnes & Noble NOOK App, you will continue to use your traditional password to sign in to your device/app. In your bn.com account, there is a NOOK Account section where you can manage that password.
Existing Accounts
If you already had a bn.com account, there is no need to create a new account, just sign in with your email address and enter the code. We migrated over some of your information including order history, saved Gift Cards, Wish List items added since September 2025, Membership information, and your NOOK Library.
You will need to add your preferred billing address, shipping address, and payment information to your account. Once entered and saved, the information will be available in your account for future orders.
Account creation
To create an account on bn.com, simply click the Sign in button in the top right corner and enter your email address. We’ll send you a 6-digit numerical code to the email address you enter. Provide that code on the Enter Code screen and your account is created!
Shop Pay, PayPal, and MasterPass
We now offer Shop Pay, an accelerated payment platform from Shopify, that will store your payment information for you to apply to bn.com orders quickly and seamlessly. Purchases made with Shop Pay will appear on your billing statement as “Shopify Retail”. Use Shopify’s Shop App to review your Shop Pay purchase history.
We have temporarily removed PayPal and MasterPass as available payment options on bn.com, but are working to bring them back soon.
Order History
Any orders placed using your email address in the last 14 months will appear in your Order History, whether or not you were signed in to an account when you placed the order.
Wish lists
We were only able to transfer a limited number of titles saved to bn.com accounts’ Wish Lists. Any wish lists you had will display titles added during or after September 2025.
NOOK Account Credit Card
If you use your bn.com account to purchase NOOK Content, you will temporarily not be able to update the default credit card saved for NOOK purchases via your bn.com account. You will need to update your default credit card on your NOOK Device. If you cannot update the card on your device, you can also make digital purchases on bn.com and sync your purchase to your device.
Gift Cards
There is no limit to the number of Gift Cards you can save in your bn.com account. When placing an order, you can apply up to 5 gift cards per order. Gift Cards saved on the account will not automatically be applied to an order, you have to click Apply Gift Card and select the cards you would like to apply.
Marketing Emails
While we get settled in to the new site, we will suspend sending marketing emails from 5/27 through 6/1/2026. Visit bn.com during this time to see what new releases are coming, what offers are available, and more!
Tax exemption
Tax exemption is now associated with the email address used to place an order. Any previous tax exemptions will need to be re-established with our new site.
If you are placing orders for a tax-exempt entity, email us at Taxes@bn.com with the email address associated with the account you wish to use for tax exemption along with any necessary exemption documentation. After approval, any orders placed with this account will be tax exempt.
If you want to place an order that should not be exempted, you will need to use a separate account that has not been established as tax exempt on bn.com.
